Mongolia-focused oil explorer Petro Matad (MATD.L) said that analysis carried out on the drilling results of its first well in Eastern Mongolia confirmed that oil was present, sending its shares soaring.

Экспортная пошлина на отечественную нефть с 1 августа текущего года будет повышена сразу на 15 долларов – с 248,8 до 263,8 доллара за тонну. Соответствующее постановление было подписано премьер-министром России Владимиром Путиным 28 июля, сообщается на сайте правительства.

Строителем объекта выступило монголо-российское совместное предприятие КОО «МЭРГЭВАН», созданное монгольским КОО «Сод Монгол Групп» и российским ООО «РН-Аэро» в мае 2009г. Инвестиции в проект были осуществлены компаниями в равном размере и на равных условиях, а их общая сумма составляет 13,2 млн. долл. США.

«РН-Аэро» выполняло функции куратора в технологической и технической частях проекта. Поставки реактивного топлива будут производиться с ОАО «Ангарская нефтехимическая компания», дочернего предприятия ОАО «НК «Роснефть».

The Company has received notification from Petrovis LLC (“Petrovis”) of its instruction to issue to Petrovis 2,000,000 ordinary shares (the “Petrovis New Shares”) in settlement of an outstanding trade liability. The outstanding liability is payable, at the election of Petrovis, in either cash or ordinary shares. The liabilities relate to fees pursuant to a Services Agreement dated 19 June 2009 whereby Petrovis provided services to the Company, including assistance with fund raisings and expansion activities. The Services Agreement stipulated a fee of either £280,000 or 2,000,0000 ordinary shares.

The Petro Matad Davsan Tolgoi-1 (“DT-1″) exploration well reached a final measured depth of 1,220m on 14 July 2010. The well passed through the Tsagaantsav formation from 1,075m to 1,146m, then entered metamorphic basement. The entire 71m section of the Tsagaantsav formation contained oil shows and elevated mud gas, with indications of live oil through six sandstone and conglomerate units totalling about 35m in aggregate. Several of these intervals included very good shows that included cut, fluorescence, oil staining and a strong petroliferous odour. Good reservoir quality is indicated by fast drilling breaks through all sandstone and conglomerate intervals.

Broker Westhouse responded to Petro Matad’s (LON:MATD) discovery of oil shows in its Davsan Tolgoi-1 well in Mongolia, calling it “excellent news” as it indicated that oil migrated into Block XX, probably from Block XIX to the north, which is the location of Petro China’s oilfields.

In its Daily Oil & Fas Filter report, Westhouse said this means that even if the well is unsuccessful in finding commercial quantities of oil, there is a a good chance that such quantities will be found elsewhare on the block.

The well was the first to be drilled as part of the 2010 drilling programme on Block XX in Eastern Mongolia. Drilling has temporarily paused at 1,093 metres for a bit change and it will subsequently continue to a depth of 1,440 metres with no testing scheduled at the current horizon.

Petro Matad (AIM: MATD) wishes to provide an update on the progress of the Davsan Tolgoi-1 (“DT-1″) exploration well.

DT-1 is currently drilling with oil shows in what is interpreted to be the Lower Zuunbayan Formation. The good to fair hydrocarbon shows were encountered on 12 July 2010 at 1,075m measured depth, in an 8 meter-thick sandstone zone near the top of the Lower Zuunbayan Formation. Drilling has temporarily paused at 1,093m for a bit change.

DT-1 is the first exploration well to be spudded as part of Petro Matad’s 2010 drilling programme on its Production Sharing Contract on Block XX in Eastern Mongolia, one of three PSCs owned and operated by the Company in Mongolia. The well was spudded on 23 June 2010 as the initial test of the Davsan Tolgoi prospect on Block XX. The planned total depth is 1,440m.

Экспортная пошлина на сырую нефть с 1 августа может вырасти на $13,2-15,2 за тонну до $262-264 за тонну, а для нефти с месторождений Восточной Сибири — на $10,1 за тонну, до $80 за тонну, следует из средней цены мониторинга Минфина РФ и формулы расчета экспортной пошлины, прописанной в законе о таможенном тарифе.

С 1 июля экспортная пошлина на российскую нефть составляет $248,8 за тонну, для месторождений Восточной Сибири — $69,9 за тонну.

Ставка экспортной таможенной пошлины на нефть с 1 июля этого года снизится с 292 долларов за тонну до 248,8 долларов за тонну. Соответствующее постановление опубликовала пресс-служба правительства России. Пошлина на светлые нефтепродукты составит с 209,1 долларов за тонну до 179,9 долларов за тонну, на темные нефтепродукты – с 112,7 долларов за тонну до 96,9 долларов за тонну.

Mongolia is looking for foreign investors to help it boost domestic crude oil production tenfold in the next three years, a senior Mongolian diplomat said today.
The increase in crude production to 10 million barrels a year from 1 million in 2009 would coincide with construction of Mongolia’s first oil refinery, enabling the land-locked country to reduce its dependence on neighbouring Russia for gasoline and other refined petroleum goods, Mongolia’s ambassador to Australia, Tserendorj Jambaldorj, told Reuters.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development holds an 18.46% stake in Mongolia-focused oil explorer Petro Matad.

Petro Matad has restarted operations at its Davsan Tolgoi prospect in Block XX, in Mongolia’s Dornod Aimag Province, after the foot-and-mouth enforced restrictions were lifted.
